Samuel Toro Pérez is an Austrian-Colombian guitarist and performer.
He studied with Prof. Alvaro Pierri at the University for Music and Performing Arts Vienna and with Prof. Anders Miolin at the Zürich University of the Arts and attended master classes with Yaron Deutsch.
As a chamber musician Samuel regularly performs nationally and internationally with ensembles such as Klangforum Wien, Phace, Ensemble Interface and the Black Page Orchestra playing both Classical and electric guitar and featuring appearances at Konzerthaus Vienna, ECLAT Stuttgart, Wien Modern, Bregenzer Festspiele, Wittener Tage für Neue Kammermusik, Impuls Academy Graz, Klangspuren Schwaz, Biennale Musica Venice, Darmstadt Summer Course for New Music and Donaueschinger Musiktage.
He works in close collaboration with composers such as Elena Rykova, Mirela Ivičević, Jorge Sánchez-Chiong and François Sarhan.
A further focus besides contemporary music consists in projects with artists from different backgrounds such as theatre, dance and video, for example as a member of the Viennese collective andother stage («Land of the Flats», «trans.litter.rate» / both Vienna), with the theatre director Maximilian Hanisch («The Fog» / Bern, «The Lobster» / Zurich) and with the dancer Constance Diard («In softly insistent motion» / Zurich).
Samuel lives in Vienna and works as a freelance musician and performer. In 2020 he has joined the Joseph Haydn Department at the University for Music and Performing Arts Vienna as a guitar tutor in Contemporary music.
